HURRICATION

As you're all aware, Hurricane Gustav visited New Orleans on Monday. As usual the city had to evacuate days before in order to avoid meeting him. Joshua and I left on Friday hoping to beat the traffic, but it took us two hours just to get to Laplace. It took a total of nine hours to get all the way to Olive Branch, MS which I thought was horrible until I learned that it took my other family members twelve hours to get to the same location! Overall, it was a nice trip. Gustav came and went without causing much damage and we got to spend a week on vacation with our family.

One day we all went to the county fair where we watched a pig race, saw a six-legged cow, and left with three stuffed animals for Baby Breaux. My Maw Maw won the tiger when a lady guessed her age as 49 instead of 68, my Daddy won the Penguin popping a balloon with a dart, and I won the Monkey when a lady guessed my age as 21 instead of 26. Joshy tried awfully hard to win something but left empty handed. But I must admit, the games he played were much more challenging than a lady guessing our ages.

I sported my prego belly for the first time when I went swimming with Kate at the hotel! I wish I had a pic, but my dad and Robin came by to stare at it for a little while so at least there were other witnesses.

Although we had a blast this week, it wasn't without pregnancy symptoms. There was one day that I spent the day in bed because the nausea and fatigue were so terrible. And there was one day that I almost threw up at the table in Arby's when I was trying to eat lunch. Eating continued to be a challenge and as usual, I was forced to eat every couple hours to avoid the nausea. Same old. The flashing lights in my vision also started up again one evening; but after taking some medicine, it faded away after about thirty minutes.

The only thing that actually bothered me about this whole shenanigan was that I had to miss my second appointment which was yesterday. We were supposed to hear the heartbeat for the first time! Boo hoo! I'll get over it by this coming Thursday though when my new appointment is scheduled.

My latest Belly Pic is posted in the pic section. Just because I was out of town doesn't mean I forgot! My belly looks really swollen in this pic too.

Alaska and Bunny Boo have been cooped up in the hotel room with us for the last eight days, but we'll all be returning home tomorrow!
