Daddy Day

Sunday was Joshua and Beckham's first Father's Day, and it was a pretty great one. When we first woke up, I gave Joshua his gift which was a wallet and a card I had made him out of photos I took of Beckham a month ago. It was so hard keeping those photos a secret from him! I used Joshua's Cammy and dress blues hats, a onesie that says "Daddy Is My Hero" and a onesie that says "I Love Daddy" for the photos. You can view them all at http://picasaweb.google.com/babybreaux/Beckham2MonthsOldStaceyBreauxPhotography#.

Our first stop of the day was lunch with my step-daddy at Italian Pie. Beckham was full of smiles and we all had a nice time.

After we left the restaurant, we met my daddy at the Audubon Insectarium which was surprisingly a lot of fun. My favorite part was the roaches but my dad made sure to stay far away...hehe. Beckham actually slept the entire time we were there. We all then went to the River Walk for beignets but a few of us ended up with daiquiris instead. Haha!

Our day wasn't over yet! After we left the River Walk, we went to visit my daddy-in-law at his home. Although it was difficult for her to put Beckham down, Donna cooked the yummiest spinach and artichoke sandwich that Joshua and I ever had! Joshua had a wonderful first Father's Day! And I didn't have a bad time either ;).

Soooooooooo I have some good news! The cereal is working! Beckham now weighs 12lbs 1oz which means he gained 13oz over the last week! Remember, he only gained 1oz last week and only 4oz the week before so I was a little concerned, but everything is looking good now.

The mommy group was crazy today! There's usually about ten mommies there although we once had seventeen, but today there was twenty! I took a picture and a short video so you guys can get a peek of our group. More people actually showed up after I took the pictures!

Here are some other new pics! :)

Beckham has a toy that is a big sun with a face on it and I have it hanging above his pack-n-play; and everytime I change him, he stares at it and smiles. I had to take a picture!

Joshie Has A Mini-Me

Well Wednesday was quite a day! Beckham and I started off by joining Amanda, Crystal and the girls for a swim at my mom's house. It was Beckham's first time in a big swimming pool and he seemed pretty content. I was bouncing and spinning him around in the water, and he even smiled a couple times. As much as he likes his baths, I still haven't seen him smile in the tub!

That same evening, Crystal's husband and Joshua came with all of us to the last Wednesday at the Square. We brought blankets to sit on this time and took up a pretty large area with all of our babies. Gina and Leah were there again; and this time instead of Joshua's family, it was my cousins Natalie and Krystle who dropped by. Beckham really enjoyed himself there! Amanda was holding him up to Ariel and as she was petting his face, he was cooing to her. I never saw him interact with another baby like that before! Then he was smiling nonstop as Joshua was playing with him. He loved it!

As I was looking at some pictures I took of Beckham today, it really hit me how much he looks like Joshua. Of course I already knew, but I guess I didn't really realize exactly how much they look alike. As Robin says, "it's freaky!". So not only does Beckham seem to have a lot of Joshua's personality traits so far, but he has his face too!

At the mommy group on Tuesday, I learned that Beckham only gained one ounce in the last week for a total of only five ounces in two weeks (he is now 11lbs 4oz). According the nurse at The Parenting Center where I attend the group, Beckham isn't gaining enough wait. He is definitely smaller than all the other babies there. Babies that are over a month younger than him weigh at least a pound more than him! So after talking with some of my other mama friends, I decided to start giving him cereal once a day for the next week and see how it goes. I'm actually really excited to give him something new and he's really liking it. This is the third day already and he's been sucking those bottles down! Hopefully, he'll get some chub soon!

Here are some other shots I took of my beautiful baby today!

A Fish Called Beckham

Beckham had his first experience in a swimming pool today! Yesterday I bought him a baby pool for our backyard so before the mommy group this morning, I filled it with water so it would have time to warm up before we were ready to get in it. He looked a little surprised when I first placed him in the water, and he fussed when I tried sitting him in it. I had to hold him and slowly dip him in until he was sitting on the bottom. Maybe the water still wasn't warm enough for him (he likes his bath water really hot!). Overall, he seemed to have a good time. He was splashing the water with his hands, and when it would hit his face he would look upset.

Last week I discovered that Beckham likes sleeping with soft things against his face. I was noticing that every time I would check on him in the bassinet, he had scooted himself to the side with his face pressed against it. I was thinking that he was doing it on accident and I made up my mind that it was time for him to sleep in his crib until I realized that he was doing it on purpose. After his first feeding in the mornings, I lay him in the bed with me for a little while and it was then that I noticed that he was stretching his face upward until it was under my pillow. Now I see him doing this all the time! So I decided he can stay in his bassinet in the room with me a little longer ;).

Beckham Is A Busy Bee

As usual, we kept Beckham busy over the weekend. Friday, I took him to visit Amanda and Ariel, and they are just so adorable together. Ariel (6 mo) is so tiny that she looks about the same age as Beckham when they're sitting side by side in their bumbo seats.

Saturday, Joshua and I took Beckham to the lakefront where we met up with Kate. It was a lovely afternoon, and we went at the perfect time of day so it felt really nice out. Beckham really loves it outside (when it's not super hot!).

On Sunday, Beckham got to hold a little puppy for the first time! My mom's Chihuahua and Yorkie just had pups so we laid one on top of Beckham to see how he would react. Of course, he really didn't pay much attention but we did get a cute video and a really funny picture of Beckham making a silly face!

Today, the marines in Joshua's shop had a farewell luncheon for one of the Staff Sergeant's so Beckham and I joined them along with some of the other marine wives and their babies. Pictured below is myself and Beckham, Amanda and Ariel, and Crystal and J'Lynn.
I bought Beckham a little baby pool for our backyard today so I plan for us to get in it tomorrow so he can "swim" for the first time! I'm so looking forwarding to it!

Beckham's First Love... Or Should I Say Loves?

I brought Beckham to the mommy group again this past Tuesday and he weighed in at 11lbs 3oz. For the first time, he did really well during tummy time there. He usually lays there for a minute and then fusses, but this time he held himself up for quite a while and he was smiling. Most of the time, he hung out with his little friend Zoe who couldn't get enough of him. She was staring at him the whole time! I got a picture of the two of them and it was so hard to get her to look away from Beckham!

Later that day, Beckham was hanging out on a boppy pillow and enjoying himself so much that I took a video of him. He ended up doing tummy time again and holding himself up so well! Of course, he talked the whole time. He's going to be a little chatterbox once he finds the words.

Yesterday we took Beckham to Wednesday at the Square to meet up with Gina and Leah, and Beckham rode around in his stroller like a big boy for the first time. He usually rides in the carrier on top but he really loved sitting in the stroller seat. The weather was perfect and the evening got even better when we ended up running into Joshua's family! His parents, aunt, uncle and cousin were all there too!

At the square, Beckham and Leah were sitting across from each other staring away. He has so many admirers that I can barely keep up! haha! Check them out on the video below!

I put Beckham in his bouncer a couple times when he was really tiny and he didn't are for it much then, but today I had him in it for a while and he was having a ball. He was kicking and moving all about, and would try to make it bounce when I would stop pushing it. He was so cute, and of course I got that on video too!

Here are a couple more pictures from today!
