Mardi Gras Madness

Happy March, everyone! Can you believe a third of the year is almost gone?? Booooo!! I'm currently shacked up in Long Beach, CA with Joshie on his business trip. Joshua and I spent a few days in San Diego where we got to visit with Joshua's sister, her husband and their new, precious baby boy; and after a few days here, we're heading back for a little bit more time before we go back home. Needless to say, we are desperately missing our baby boys! Vacations just aren't the same when you leave half of yourself back home. I'm having a great time here, but I'm so excited to get back to celebrate their birthdays, and then have our family vacay in just 2 months!

So here are some things I forgot to mention in my last post along with some new stuff that Beckham has said or done since then.

First, I really want to mention how much Beckham loves Toy Story and Handy Manny. Every morning he has to watch Handy Manny, and every afternoon he has to watch Toy Story as he falls asleep for his nap. His favorite character is Buzz and he's so full of questions as he watches, regardless of how many times you've answered them the days before.

Beckham sings his ABC's and can also count to 10 without assistance. He can count to 20 with some help as well. He tends to miss number 11 a lot. lol.

If you ask Beckham his name, he answers "Beckham Patrick Breaux". Once I asked him what brother's name is, and he said "Brother Patrick Breaux"! Hahahaha!

Something I really wanted to mention before is how much he loves Rhianna's song "What's My Name". He calls Joshua's mom Nonna so he gets so excited when it comes on and he sings it all the time. He even asks to listen to it when we get in the car but unfortunately, i don't have the cd. He also likes to plug other people names in there instead of Nonna such as "Oh Mommy...".

During Mardi Gras, Beckham started singing the Mardi Gras Mambo, but he would sing "Mardi Gras Gumbo" instead!

We were all in the car together one day and Beckham was talking to his Nonna through the phone so I was holding it across the car to him from the front seat. Apparently he didn't like me looking at him which he was on the phone because he kept telling me, "Turn around, Momma!".

When you asks Beckham questions, he answers in complete sentences. For example, if I were to ask him, "Do you want Mommy to make you some breakfast?" He would say, "I want Mommy to make some breakfast."

Beckham knows that he's the big brother and he likes to make it known at times. I always catch him correcting his brother. Most of the time when Everett screams for fun, Beckham will copy him; but sometimes, I hear him say "No, Everett. Too noisy!" Everett likes to go after the night lights, and Beckham is always telling him "No, Brother! Don't touch that!" My favorite is when he calls Everett "Evie".

Beckham is so curious these days. He's gotten into the phase where he is just full of questions. The most common question is "What dat is?" He also asks questions like "Where Daddy went?" and "Where screwdriver at?".

Once, I was watching him play with his bike outside and he kept talking to everything. He was saying "Sorry, dirt" as he rode over it, and "Watch out, Grass" as he passed by it. He is so amusing!

For months now, we've been working with Beckham to say "Sir" and "Ma'am" when he answers us. He still gets them totally confused and almost always says "Sir" for everyone. My favorite was a couple months ago when I was changing his poopy diaper and I told him he needed to poop in the potty, and he yelled "No, Sir!".

Beckham loves to help Mommy! He's always saying "I help Mommy!" when I have diapers to throw away or laundry to do. And if I need him to pick up after himself or to bring something to me, I just need to tell him that Mommy needs help and he's all on it.

Beckham is always watching me get dressed, and one time I put something on and said "Mommy looks funny." Now he's always telling me that I look funny after I get dressed! He says "Mommy look funny!" and he laughs.

Beckham likes to tell us when we do a good job. For example, when Joshua was playing basketball with him and made a shot, Beckham told him "Good Job, Daddy".

One day I was looking at pictures on my phone and I showed Beckham a picture of a baby sleeping. After I changed the picture to something else, he said "I wanna see more sleeping. I wanna say 'Goodnight'." LOL

Beckham is a very sweet little boy, but he can also be a boogerbutt at times. Although he has gotten much better, he's been having a problem with being too rough for quite sometime now. Whenever he would scratch, hit, bite, etc., Joshua would tell him "No biting, no hitting, no scratching, no pinching" while pointing a finger for each of them. Now Beckham walks around saying it to himself. He even points his fingers like Joshua does.

Beckham started doing this thing where he lists everything he eats. I don't know where it came from, but he drags on all the words too. He'll say something like, "I ate strawberriiiiiiiiieeees, oatmeeeeeeeeeeeal, raisiiiiiiiiiiiiiins, etc."

Beckham and Everett have both been using the take & toss cups forever now. They're pretty much the only ones Everett has ever drank from and Beckham has been using them for about 8 months. Well, I got really tired of cleaning of entire cups of juice and such from Everett throwing or dropping the cups so I switched them to the spill-free cups. When I first gave Beckham one, he looked disgusted and said "This baby cup!". LOL I have never even told him anything like that! I had to convince him that it was not a baby cup and it was okay for him to drink from it. I even had to take a couple sips to show him!

My sweet boy has started saying "I love you" out of the blue! Finally! I've been waiting for that since he was born. Haha! A week ago, he even came to me, kissed me and said "I love you, Stacey". LOL!

Beckham's crayon broke, and he brought it to me and said "Handy Manny fix it". If only he could!

Beckham has this white Teddy Bear that he carries everywhere around the house. He shares his cup with Teddy and Teddy goes down the slide, and jumps in the jumper, and rocks on the rocking horse. He's always telling him "Come on, Teddy" as he drags him around.

Beckham has been wearing Joshua's dog tags a lot, and once I asked him what it says on them and he replied, "It says Daddy's name... it says Joshua." :)

Beckham says "Bless you" when he hears someone sneeze.

I took the boys for a walk to McDonald's and while we were in line Beckham was singing "Old McDonald had a farm...... e i e i oooooo..". Not the same guy, baby!

When Beckham falls down and looks upset, I just call him Humpty Dumpty and he starts laughing.

There's a nursery rhyme called "Wee Willy Winkie" that I had never heard before until Beckham started reciting it to me. He says the entire thing; and when I would ask him who sings that, he would say "Nonna". So finally I remembered to ask her about and she recited it to me so I would know what he was saying. Here's what the Rhyme says and what I thought Beckham was saying...

We Willy Winkie - "Winky Winky"
Runs through the town - "Runs through town"
Upstairs and downstairs - "Upstairs, downstairs"
In His nightgown - " ''''nightgown"
Rapping on the windows - "Knocking on the windows"
Yelling through the lock - " ''''''''lock"
Are the children in their beds? - "Look under bed"

It's already 8 o'clock! - Beckham covers his mouth during this line and I don't understand anything. (Donna puts her hand by her mouth as though she is yelling.)

EVERETT is going to be a year old in just 10 days!! I may be counting years soon, but he's still just a baby. He's the same cuddly boy that loves to be held and hugged, and is just not ready to grow up. He has been taking steps for a few weeks now, but is still not close to walking on his own. The most he has taken is 5 steps at once. It's really hard to even practice with him because he gets so excited that he won't stop kicking his legs, and you have to hold his heavy butt up until he will relax and stand.

Unlike Beckham, Everett is very attached to me. When we're home, he wants me to hold him all of the time and when Joshua holds him, he is ready to come back to mommy after a short while. He's a pain to take to the grocery because he tries to grab on to me and pull himself up to me while riding in the basket. I'm not sure why he's this way when he was rarely held as a small baby, but oh well... I have a Momma's boy!

When Beckham was 8 months old, Joshua taught him to get off the couch feet first by just showing him once. My poor Evie just cannot get this down! He's such a rough little boy and when he's ready to get down, he just throws himself head first! Despite the many times he's hurt himself, he continues to think this is the best way.
Everett is now off of formula and mostly off the bottle. I hadn't given him the bottle in just about a week, but I told Donna that she could while he stayed with her.
Everett is continuing to say new words all the time, and one that I forgot to mention last time is "Oorah!". When Beckham first started saying it, he would only say "Rah!" but Everett says the whole word perfectly clear. It's adorable!

We often take the boys for walks around the city, and this time we took the camera and got some pictures. We took them through the French Market where they took turns screaming at the top of their lungs (for fun) like they often do, and everyone was watching us. And there are always a lot of people in the French Market! We also took them down Burbon Street and some people even threw them some beads from the balconies. Several people asked me if they were twins, and believe it or not, I get this all the time. Not just from old people anymore!

The boys got to enjoy their very first Mardi Gras parade at Bacchus. We didn't take Beckham to any parades last year so this was a first for them both. Everett was yelling "Heeeeeeeeey!" the whole time, and it took Beckham a little while to get warmed up. Once he did, he started doing a light scream.

Mardi Gras day was March 8th and we took the boys out to Metairie where Joshie spent the night to get us a good spot. We had family and friends join us, and everyone had a great time. Beckham had so much fun that he even passed out on Papa D's shoulders!

About a week ago, we had some family pictures taken by my friend at Laura Emerson Photography. I am so happy with the way they came out!!

Here are some pictures of what the boys have been up to since we've been gone!  Gene and Donna took them to the Zoo to see dinosaurs and on a swamp tour to see alligators!
