Another Month of Breaux Life

Oh look at me... I'm keeping up the blog!  I think I deserve a cookie.  :)

Although it didn't feel like it, yesterday was Mardi Gras. Normally, Joshua goes out around 4-5am (and sometimes spends the night) to the parade ground to reserve the perfect spot. Then our friends and family come out to join us. Well as you know, Joshua is still not here, and I was really not in the mood for traffic, large crowds and a sleepy baby with no crib. The weather was icky yesterday (yet another reason not go out) but Gene, Donna and Myshie came over to hang out. I was able to take some Mardi Gras pictures of Marigny, and thanks to her nanny she was smiling!  Her onesie was custom made by Tiny Buffalo Clothing to look like the New Orleans street tiles.  They did an awesome job!

Marigny may have spent her first Mardi Gras at home, but don't feel sad. She did get to experience at least one parade this season. A couple of weeks ago, we spent the day at my sister Kate's house and walked over to a parade a couple of streets away. It was my kind of parade - short with no crowd!

Gene and Donna took the boys to one other parade. I think the boys preferred this kind of parade because it was longer with lots of throw!

Mardi Gras brought a bit of a scare into our home a few days ago.  The boys had doubloons that they loved to play with; but unfortunately, so did Marigny.  She was sitting on the couch next to me playing with my coffee cup when I looked over and caught her biting on a doubloon.  I quickly took it away and explained to the boys that we need to be extremely careful with them and make sure that Marigny does not get any because she can choke on them.  I swear, within 10 minutes I looked over at her and she was vomiting like crazy.  I immediately knew that she had found another doubloon somewhere in the blanket that she was sitting on.  I quickly tried to look in her mouth but she wouldn't stop vomiting so my next reaction was to run outside and scream for help or find a neighbor.  I grabbed her and tipped her over while beating her on the back and racing to the front door.  The was turning purple and vomiting the whole way.  Finally, just as I reached the door, the doubloon flew out of her mouth.  Talk about one of the scariest moments of my life.  Just a few minutes later Marigny was smiling and laughing.

I usually write about the boys first, but since I'm on the topic of Minnie, I'll give a quick update on her now. She has three teeth now and it looks like her second top tooth will be coming soon. She's not bad when she's teething though. The only time I have problems with her at night is when she's sick. She's truly a great baby. As long as she's at home and can nap in her bed, she's no trouble at all. She will only sleep in her bed though (or on cousin Whitney's chest!) which is great when we're at home, but rather poppy when we are not. Marigny laughs all the time now! She thinks that the word "pepperoni" and watching Everett on the potty are especially funny. She is still not pulling herself up or crawling, but she did start scooting backwards which is great improvement! She also stands for long periods of time (on her toes) and stands while holding on to things. I just need to be on guard because her legs give out on her. She never did start physical therapy because her pediatrician sent the referral to an agency that doesn't work with babies.

Marigny just learned how to clap over the last week, and she is so fun to watch. She starts by watching her hands while she claps them, then she begins to smirk until she is looking up at me with a huge smile as though she is trying to say "Look what I can do!". She signs to me all the time now, and she doesn't hesitate to tell me when she's all done with something. She also learned to point to my mouth when I ask her where it is and also how to point to my nose when I ask her to. She learned it so quickly, but my poor face was suffering from her scratchy grabs. Here's a video from when she first learned where my nose is.

I just sat Marigny is a highchair at a restaurant for the first time last week (she sits in a highchair at home though).  The restaurant was Cane's and she seemed to enjoy it.  However, she did have another choking incident with a french fry.  =/

So I know it's technically winter (although it is still hot here in Louisiana every other day), but I am totally in love with this swimsuit that I bought for Marigny when I was pregnant with her.  I'm so sad - I bought a size too small because I thought she would be skinnier like my boys were.  But gosh darnit, she must wear it!  At least so I can take a picture.  :)

Here are some photos I took of Marigny a couple of weeks ago at 8 months old.

Here is a funny pic of Marigny as an alien!  LOL

So did you catch that part where I said that Everett was on the potty?  That's right!  My baby boy is potty trained!  I was planning to wait until we were back in CA and settled in before beginning the potty training process with him, but on January 22nd, he told me "I want to pee pee in the potty and wear green underwear".  I learned from my mistake with Beckham that when a child says they are ready to use the potty, you better put that kid on the potty!  I put his green underwear on him and told him that if he uses the potty he will get a donut.  He was super excited and kept insisting that he was going to use the potty.  Well he ended up peeing in his pants, and he had the saddest face I had ever seen.  He said in the most pitiful voice "I wanna donut.".  Poor baby.  Well he did get his donut the next day when he peed in the potty for the first time!  He had several accidents that day but he also used the potty four times too!  Within a week, he was completely potty trained!  I am so proud of my little man.

Everett also learned how to peddle a bike!  He was also so stubborn and would refuse to do what we were showing him.  But once he did it, it was as though he had been riding a bike since birth!

Now it's time for "Random Places That Everett Falls Asleep"!

Some other random pics of my Evie!

My nephew Daniel spent the night a couple of weeks ago. I got to take this beautiful pic of him and Everett together. They are only 5 months apart!

Beckham is so ready to be four years old. Literally. He tells everyone he is four. He will argue with you to death that he is four and there is nothing you can say about it. He also argues that Everett is three! I can't wait until their birthdays at the end of next month so I don't have to hear about it anymore.

The other morning, Beckham put on Marigny's pajama pants after I took them off of her.  They actually fit him!  Haha!

Both of the boys are really into hats and glasses right now.  Everett seems to be more into hats and Beckham seems to be more into glasses.  Donna and I took them to the movies to see Monsters, Inc. in 3D and now Beckham wears the 3D glasses all the time!  Here are some pics from our trip to the movies along with some of the boys wearing their 3D glasses.  lol

Here are some recent crafts that I did with the boys:

Pictures of my boys playing together!

Of course, I have a ton of pictures of the boys loving on Minnie. Beckham tells her, "I will protect you forever." Such sweetness!

Soooooo for the BIG news... drum roll please!  Joshua is back safe from Afghanistan!  He arrived back in Cali over a week ago, but he is not able to leave there for 30 days.  So right now our plan is for him to come here on March 8th (3 weeks away!), do a short visit, help me pack up the house and then drive us back to CA with him.  We all cannot wait!  Everett keeps asking to go to Daddy's house, and I so wish they could understand how soon that will be.  It's so close!

I've been taking a lot of Lifestyle Photography pictures of the kids lately, but there are so many that I'm going to post a separate blog entry to dedicate strictly to those pics.  I plan to post them within the next week so be on the look out for them!  =)
