Like Mommy Like Son

Yesterday was the first time Joshua and I took Beckham to the French Market. For those super neurotic Saints fans aka Robin, I dressed him NOLA style, sporting Saints gear!

Over the last week, Beckham has learned how to lick things. When I give him a bath, he lays there licking the water. He's also been licking his clothes, our shoulders, his hands, his bottle and pacifier nipples and pretty much anything you put in front of his mouth. Because of this, I figured he must have pretty good control of his tongue now so for the last couple of days I've been working with him to mimic me sticking out my tongue. He would try soooo hard and then get really frustrated and start fussing, but today he was able to do it! He did it several times in a row so I decided to get the video camera out to share it with all of you. Later on when Joshua tried to get him to do it, he did it again! Check out my big boy!

Sleepy Heads

On Sunday I took a video of Beckham when we got home from the zoo, and I was just able to upload it to YouTube. In this one, he is trying to talk while having the hiccups; and in one part, he smiles so big. Also, he starts screaming at the end!

Today Beckham and I were playing with one of his toys, a little duck, and it was the first time I saw him smile at a toy! The duck quacks when you squeeze it and he thought it was funny! He still hasn't laughed but he did smile a whole bunch.

I know I posted a picture of Joshua and Beckham sleeping on the couch yesterday, but today all of my babies were sleeping together so I had to take a picture again! My whole little family all napping on the couch!

My Babies

Beckham and I went to visit my Sofia today. I love seeing her, and I'm so happy that I'll be helping Stacey with her again during the summer. Next week is her last week of school! Anyhoo, she got to feed Beckham today while we were there and it was just so sweet! She sat there so still and whenever he would move and push the bottle out of his mouth, she would say, "Um, I need some help please". Precious!

One of the things I bought yesterday was a sling to carry Beckham in. A few of the mom's in my mommy group have them and they seemed to work great so I wanted to try it out too. I used it today for the first time when I took Beckham to see Stacey and Sofia and he passed out as soon as I put him in it. And he was so fussy before! He's also fussy when I'm trying to use the computer so I put him in it so I could check my email, and he passed out again. I love this thing!

Just now, when I went downstairs to get my camera to upload the picture of Sofia, I had to take a picture of Joshua and Beckham sleeping on the couch. They do this just about everyday and it's so cute! I heart my babies!

Mall Rat

I never thought I'd be one to wake up before 10am unless I had to be at work. It's crazy how much life changes once you have a baby. It's more than just making bottles and changing diapers... I actually have to wake up when the little booger tells me to too! Yesterday I was up by 7am, running errands to five different places by 8am and on my way to Baton Rouge by 11am. Say what?!

My friend Amanda had never been to the Mall of Louisiana so we took a trip to spend the day out there with our babies. We were rushing around so much when we were trying to leave that we totally forgot to bring Ariel's stroller! Fortunately, they had the cute little car strollers in the mall, and Ariel was extra cute sitting up in it because she's so small.

On the way home from the mall, we stopped at my Paw Paw's house for a visit. He lives out in the boonies so I haven't been there in a while, but we had a really great time chatting and watching the babies. Below is a picture of my Paw Paw's wife, Laurie holding Beckham. He was fighting his sleep the whole time she held him.

This morning, Beckham and I went to the mommy group again. He was weighed there and he is now 10 lbs 1 oz. They had babies there that are only 2-4 weeks old and Beckham looks so big next to them! Below is a pic of him smiling there.

Before we left to go to the mommy group, I was playing with Beckham with a dinosaur that my mom bought him at the zoo the other day, and I took this pic right as he was starting to sneeze. It's so funny because it looks like he's scared of the dinosaur!

After the group, Gina and I took Beckham and Leah to the mall, and I spent all of my birthday money on him. hehe. I did so good yesterday but I just couldn't help myself anymore! Here's a stroller pic of Beckham and Leah!

Happy Birthday Dear... Stacey!

Yesterday Beckham went to Sofia's 6th birthday party. There was a huge, double water slide and he seemed to to really like watching all the kids playing on it. It was Sofia's first time seeing and holding him, and she was simply precious. I missed my Sofia!

Yesterday afternoon, my youngest brother, Kyle, had a little party to celebrate his high school graduation which is taking place tomorrow night. Kyle is a natural with Beckham; and whenever he starts to fuss, Kyle is able to quiet him down right away. He's going to be such a good daddy one day!

Today is my 27th birthday! We took Beckham to the Audubon Zoo for the first time where Huey's employer was having a work picnic (I won't mention how many snowballs I had). Unfortunately, it was raining the whole time but we did get to see some monkeys. I plan to take him back soon though! Below are some pictures of Beckham with his mommy on her birthday!

Thank you so much to everyone who called, texted or commented on my wall today!

My BIG Boy

It's been two weeks since I've updated so I hope I can remember everything. The first Friday after I last wrote (May 1st), Joshua left for seven days to go to the shooting range (which, I must add, he scored as an expert shooter!). The day before he left, Beckham was babysat for the first time! He and I were hanging out at Donna and Gene's while Joshua was at work and when Joshua got off, I took a ride to pick him up and left Beckham there. He was without Mommy and Daddy for a whole 90 minutes! Ah, he's growing up...hehe.

This year it was much different for me while Joshua was at the shooting range. Last year it felt he was gone for a whole month! This time I was so busy with Beckham that he was back before I knew it. Beckham and I ended up spending a few nights at my Dad's house while he was gone. We stayed there the night Joshua left, and Kate slept in the room with us to wake up with Beckham during the night so I could have my first daiquiri in nine months! It was even yummier than I remembered!

Saturday (May 3rd), Beckham went to his first kiddie birthday party! Jace, my friend Rachel's son, turned 6 so we stopped by to see everyone. I really wish I got a picture but unfortunately, I didn't.

The following Monday (May 4th), Donna babysat for me again so that I could clean my disgusting house. Beckham was away from me for a whole six hours this time! I just couldn't wait to get back over there to see his precious face again.

Tuesday (May 5th), Beckham and I went to our first Struggles and Snuggles group which is like a Mommy and Me group at Children's Hospital. Amanda and Ariel came with us but Beckham just slept the whole time. I was very disappointed. All the other babies were wiggling on the mat, taking turns looking at each other. He was the only one sleeping!

Wednesday (May 6th), Robin babysat Beckham for the first time for a couple hours while I went with Kate and Sam for my first "girlie afternoon" since he's been born. We had lunch and got our nails done. But of course, we talked about babies the whole time!

Thursday (May 7th), Beckham had his second visit with his pediatrician and I couldn't believe what he weighed... 10 lbs!! My little baby had already gained 3 1/2 pounds! He got his second shot which went better than I had expected. He did a big scream when the needle went in him then he went into a silent scream for a few seconds. I picked him up, he let out the silent scream and it was over. Then the doctor told me that I had to change his eating schedule now that he was a month old and growing well. Beckham was eating 3oz every 2-3 hours and the doctor wants him eating more every 4 hours. Beckham actually did pretty well with this. He's been eating 6oz every 4-5 hours (today he ate 7oz!). It only took him a couple days to get into the habit. Later that afternoon, Joshua came home and boy was he happy to see Beckham! He grew so much since the last time Joshua saw him. We were just so glad to have him back. This was the first night that Beckham slept in his crib! He did so well and ended up sleeping in it three nights in a row until the monitor broke. Now he's back in the bassinet in our room. Amanda brought me her monitor today but Beckham has been breathing bad again at night so I'm going to keep him in our room until it clears up.

Sunday (May 10th) was my first Mother's Day! We spent the day at my mom's house with a visit inbetween at Joshua's grandmother's, then spent the evening at Joshua's mom's. I was nice and rested because Joshua got up with Beckham all night. It was a great Mother's Day. (The second photo is of me, my mom and her mom).

Monday (May 11th), I stayed home with Beckham all day and he had a playdate with Ariel. She and Amanda came over and we got the cutest pictures of them together!

Yesterday, Beckham and I went to our second Snuggles and Struggles session, and this time Gina and Leah came with us. I am so pleased to say that Beckham was awake the whole time. He was happy and smiley, and wiggled around on the mat with the other babies. Yay! (Beckham and Leah are pictured below).

Also, yesterday was Beckham's first day boob-free! He hasn't been breastfed since Monday morning, and I am so relieved to have him completely on formula.

Today, Joshua and I were playing around with Beckham and I got some cute shots so of course, I have to share them.

He has been smiling so much! As soon as he wakes up and eats, he is all smiles. We happened to catch him on camera a few times!
