Welcome To Da Crib

Last Tuesday I took Beckham to the baby group, and this time I was able to get some pictures. He weighed 13lbs 11oz which means he gained 11oz since the Tuesday before. We go back tomorrow so I'm interested to find out how much he's gained since then.

Later that day, I took more pictures of Beckham hanging out at home. He's looking so old!

On Thursday, I took Sofia and Beckham to the Audubon Aquarium of the Americas. It was Beckham's first time and he really liked it. I had been dying to take him for a while because I was curious as to if he would be interested in looking at the fish or not. Robin has a fake aquarium as her screen saver on her computer and Beckham loves looking at that so I thought he would like the aquarium too. It was absolutely packed when we went but we were still able to enjoy a lot of it. I'm looking forward to taking him again soon when schools starts so it will less crowed and we can take our time. Because of all the people, we were only able to look at some of the tanks so we ended up spending a lot of time in the play area which is Sofia's favorite part anyway. Beckham seemed to like it too because I had him leaning over one of the little fish toys, and he kept staring at it and rubbing it with his hands.

Joshua, Beckham and I went to Baton Rouge on Saturday for Jason and Sam's 3D/4D ultrasound. I can't believe it's been over a month since we went to see Kate's! Payton Jo looked adorable and incredibly chubby, and the ultrasound made me even more eager to meet her. Below is a photo at the ultrasound place of everyone who viewed it and a photo of Beckham with Payton Jo on the screen in the background.

Saturday was also Beckham's four month birthday and the day he started sleeping in his crib. We started putting him in his crib when he was six weeks old but after three days, our monitor broke so he was back in the bassinet in our room. By the time we got a new monitor, he had a cold and I didn't feel comfortable having him in the other room where I couldn't hear him breathing. By the time he got over his cold, I just couldn't let go! I'm still not ready to put him in his own room but my plan was for him to move in there at two months old and he's already stayed in our room double that time. Plus, he's just getting too big for the bassinet so I don't really have a choice anymore!

He's been doing really well in his crib, but as I suspected, it has interrupted his sleep schedule. He was sleeping through the night but he's now waking up between 1am-4am to eat, but he goes back to sleep in his crib just fine. This morning he woke up at 6:30am and I heard him fussing through the monitor, but then he got really quiet so I turned the video on and he was laying on his back looking around. It was so cute! I couldn't wait to get him and kiss him up!

Happy Anniversary, Blog!

Yesterday was Joshua's 26th birthday which means that it has been one year since we found out we were pregnant with Beckham! We got our positive test last year on his birthday and I started my blog the following day. So, today is the one year anniversary of The Baby Breaux Blog! Cheers!

Joshua and I have not gone dancing and drinking since long before I found out I was pregnant so Saturday night we celebrated his birthday at Metro with his friends. Beckham stayed with my dad, Robin and Kate, and they described him as behaving like "an angel". No surprise! Joshua and I didn't stay out long. I had too much to drink and we're just pretty much over the night scene. We went back to my dad's house and spent the night there instead of driving back home. Poor Joshie had to take care of Beckham during the night and in the morning on his birthday because I was too hungover. I'll have to make it up to him! Anyhoo, my dad sent me a ton of pictures from Beckham's stay at their house so here are my favorites:

Okay get ready for this... my sister is expecting her baby girl in 7 weeks so my dad's house is full of baby girl items. Well, they put a big flower headband on my little boy! I must admit, he looked so pretty!

As I mentioned in my last post, Beckham rolled over for the first time on Tuesday. After that, he didn't do it again until Wednesday night and I was able to capture it on film (sorry about the dark video). Since then, he's been rolling over just about every time we put him on his tummy.

Thursday night I had Beckham sitting up on my legs facing me and he grabbed his foot for the first time! I was watching him stare at it for the longest time and I could see how badly he wanted to touch it. Finally, he swung his arm a couple times and grasped on to it! I've seen him to it a few more times over the weekend. I'm so excited because I've been waiting for him to find his feet because it's just so adorable.

Beckham has been practicing sitting up and he's getting pretty good at it. Today he was sitting up long enough for me to get a picture!

Here are some other pictures from today and last week:

Beckham's been getting much better with his hands too, and I filmed him playing with one of his toys today. His idea of playing is trying to eat it!

Since Beckham has been born, I've been sending pictures and videos of him through my phone to my family everyday. Here are some of the pictures from the last few weeks!

Roly Poly

For weeks now, I've been sitting with my video camera waiting for this little baby to roll over for the first time. Whenever I leave him with someone, I even tell them not to put him on his belly because I want to be there when he first flips himself over. Would you believe that this little booger rolled himself over this morning right when I turned around?!

I was at my mommy group talking about how I've been trying to get Beckham to roll over and how I couldn't wait to see him do it. I had Beckham laying on his tummy facing Zoe who was also on her tummy and they looked so cute that I turned around to grab my camera; and just as I looked back, I saw legs and arms flying in the air and the end of Beckham rolling over. Everyone saw it and started cheering, and I only caught the tail end of it! And the worst part is I missed it for nothing because I didn't even get a picture of them on their tummies. By the way, Beckham weighed exactly 13lbs today at the group. He gained 8oz since last week and has officially doubled his weight since birth!

After the group, I brought Beckham with me to babysit a 1 year old boy named Ezra. Ezra was really great with Beckham except that he kept wanting to grab Beckham's hair every time he pet his head. Haha! They had a Lamaze tummy time toy there that I put Beckham on and he stayed like that for the longest time watching Sesame Street. I can't believe how that show hypnotized the babies!

Although Beckham was happy and in a great mood all day, as soon as we got home he threw a screaming fit that nothing could soothe. This was totally not like him so I gave him a cold teething ring and he immediately calmed down. He has been drooling and gnawing on his hands for weeks now but he never seemed like he was in pain so I wasn't sure if he was teething yet. After his fit today, I took a closer look at his gums and I can see two pointy teeth trying to break through on the bottom. I have been really dreading the teething period and I was hoping I had more time until then. I guess the sooner we get these teeth out, the sooner it will be over!

How Could I Forget?

Some things I forgot to mention that I'd like to make a note of now:

1.) I hurt Beckham for the first time a couple of weeks ago! I was putting one of his pacifier clips that has a metal clasp on him and I accidentally got his skin along with the clothes. My poor baby screamed so loud it broke my heart.

2.) On Thursday, June 25th, Beckham slept through the night for the first time! He went a few days after that waking up to eat but for the past week, he has slept through the night everyday. I found that if he has his last feeding at 11pm, he can sleep until 6 or 7am before needing to eat again.

3.) I tried feeding Beckham with a spoon for the time a couple weeks ago. We sat him up in his bumbo seat, and I watered down some rice cereal and fed it to him. Once he got it off the spoon, he made strange faces and then started choking! I tried once more and he choked again so I was done with that! No more spoons until he's four months old.

4.) Around the time Beckham made three months, I started doing baby signs with him. I've read that babies can usually start making the signs themselves around 6 months and I planned on using them when I talk to him around 5 months; but for fun, I decided to start early. He definitely notices when I do it! Every time I make a sign, his eyes move from my eyes and to my hands which are making the signs. He really pays attention and he's very interested in what I'm doing. Since I'm starting so early, I plan on slowly adding more signs. At this point, I've been doing "mommy, daddy, friends, change, bath, water, milk, finished and baby" on a regular basis.

New News!

For the last couple of days, Beckham has been looking at me when I say his name! Not every time, of course, but enough to make me believe that he recognizes it. He's also been getting very close to doing a belly laugh. I'm dying to hear that!

Friday, I babysat Sofia and two of her friends. The youngest was a four year old named Shelby who kept wanting to hold Beckham and take care of him. She kept hugging and kissing him; and when he had the hiccups, she patted his back. It was so sweet!

We took the scissors to his hair! On the left side of Beckham's head, his hair was very long and hung over his ear and Joshua has been dying to cut it. I finally got tired of it too so today we chopped it off during Joshua's lunch break. Beckham was in the middle of a nap and had no idea. I now have his hair in a tiny Ziploc baggy in his baby book.

My baby is in love with himself! This morning I was taking pictures of Beckham during tummy time and learned that he not only loves looking at himself in the mirror, but he also loves looking at pictures of himself. Haha! Check out the video below!
