With Hurricane Ike creeping up in the gulf, yesterday I had my appt changed in fear that I would have to evacuate again and miss it Thursday. So I had it today!! The doctor checked the size and position of my uterus which was perfect and then we listened to the heartbeat for the very first time! It was beating at about 160 bpm and was so loud and clear. it was unbelievable! The tears were leaking from my eyes and I couldn't stop them. We listened to my heartbeat and the baby's which was even more amazing to hear two heartbeats inside of me. Of course... I still can't believe it! Oh, and I gained 2lbs since my last appt. I'm pretty sure that's a total of 8lbs that I've gained.
The only negative news I got from the doctor was that my blood count came back low from my blood tests that I took last month. The doctor said that it's pretty normal but it will keep me feeling tired so I'll have to start taking iron in a couple weeks. I'm used to taking vitamins anyway!
After my appointment this morning, Joshua and I stopped for lunch and then I passed out for five hours when I got home! I actually had to force myself to wake up. I'm looking forward to taking more iron because I really need a lift. Anything that will give me energy!
Great news! The nausea is really starting to wear off! Because of the last evacuation, our kitchen is totally empty so I've had to skip breakfast the last couple of days which has definitely hurt my tummy but hasn't made me feel like I was going to puke. This is because Baby Breaux's placenta is finally starting to take over hormone production. Baby Breaux is also about the size of a plum now, and is gaining coordination which means he/she is able to move a hand on command. Baby Breaux's palms have also gained sensation and can actually feel what he/she touches! Also this week, Baby Breaux is developing his/her swallow reflex, smelling and other olfactory senses. So much so fast!
With this growing baby comes a growing belly and today is Belly Pic day! You can check out the new pic in the Belly Pic section, and pay no attention the mark on my hip which looks like a bruise. It's actually a tan line from Kate's swimsuit that I borrowed during evacuation. It's a star tan line!
