Indeed it is! Although we were so far from our family this Thanksgiving, we were fortunate enough to have amazing friends to share this special day with. There were about twelve of us who got together, and there were a ton of food and games. It was truly a wonderful Thanksgiving, and it felt much like home away from home.
The following day, we decorated the house and put up the Christmas tree. Both of the boys helped with the ornaments this year; but just as we got to the last one, Everett tried to escape with it. He has been somewhat of an ornament thief this year. I have never had a problem with my children messing with the Christmas tree, but Everett is determined to change that. It suits his personality though. He has sticky fingers and gets into absolutely everything. It really doesn't matter how many times we tell him to stop or try to discipline him. A few days ago, Joshua found him sitting on the kitchen table eating an apple from the fruit basket, and I am always catching him opening the dishwasher and trying to run off with spoons. He doesn't even bother trying to climb over the gate in front of the stairs anymore. He simply pulls it down and takes off up the stairs. And get this! The little booger has even learned how to turn door knobs and open doors now! Boy, will this be fun. But this is all off of the subject. Our tree is up and our house is ready for Christmas. Joshua even put lights on the outside of the house, and everything looks beautiful. We are so ready for our guests! My youngest brother, Kyle is coming for ten days and then Joshua's parents will be returning for Christmas. Yay for December!
Time for "Inside Beckham's Head"! Whoop!
*Very often when I tell Beckham it is nap time, he replies with "But that doesn't make any sense. The sun is still awake!"
*One day Beckham was asking Joshua to put on his favorite show and Joshua explained to him "You watched your show and now I get to watch mine. That's called a compromise." And Beckham then replied, "I don't like compromise. Compromise is not here. Can we turn the compromise off?"
*Sometimes when Beckham is in time out, he pees in his pants. Well this happened the other day and afterwards he told me, "Most children pee pee in their pants and get to watch Little Einsteins. Does that make sense?" He said this with a huge smile and then cracked up laughing.
*I asked Beckham if I could lay on him and he said, "Noooo... I'm not a pillow. Pillows don't have ears and mouthes and legs... or any of that stuff." Yes, he said "mouthes" instead of mouths".
*One afternoon he asked me, "If I put a tomato in your tummy, will it hurt your baby?" I love how he always calls it "your baby".
*I asked Beckham what his name was and he answered "Becks Ham!".
*When I told Beckham that he is not allowed to discipline his brother because he is a child and only adults can do that, he argued "But children grow up." On another occasion, Joshua told him again that he should not be trying to discipline his brother, and Beckham again argued "But I am getting bigger!".
*One afternoon as Becks was eating his lunch, he asked if he could have cake after he finished. We told him no because he had been very naughty that day so we heard him talking to himself and saying, "What? Eat a sandwich and no cake? That doesn't make any sense."
*One day I told Beckham that he could not have juice until he ate his chicken, and he said "I don't eat my protein and I can have juice. That makes sense, right?"
*Beckham was watching Curious George The Movie for the first time, and when he heard that man in the yellow hat say "What's the difference between...", Beckham jumped up and said, "They say 'difference' in the Bee Movie!".
*Once when I told Beckham he was being mean, he told me "Mommy, you are being ridiculous!".
The boys finished up the Thanksgiving crafts and have already completed their first Christmas one! Their first Christmas craft was ornaments for the tree that I let them decorate however they pleased. Everett keeps pulling the balls off of Beckham's ornament though, and yesterday the whole ornament was missing for a little while.
Below are some photos that I found on my camera from about a week before we left New Orleans. I can't believe how much older Evie looks now! He was still just a baby when we left.
BABY #3
I am twelve and a half weeks now which means only a few more days until I reach the second trimester! What a relief! I can't believe how absolutely excited I am about this baby. We had our second appointment last Wednesday, November 23rd where I got to hear the heartbeat for the very first time. It took the doctor quite a while to be able to distinguish the baby's from mine, but it was worth the trouble to finally hear it. It was 152 bpm which is right around the boys' heart rates at that time. The baby was extremely active too. Every time it moves, it sounds like static on the Doppler, and the baby would not stop moving which also made it very difficult for the doctor to count the heart rate.
Speaking of the baby moving, I have started to feel him/her this week! Some people may find it hard to believe since I am only twelve weeks, but this is my third time around and I know what I'm feeling. I felt Everett at 14 weeks and I was doubted quite a bit about that too; but just as I expected, the tiny kicks I felt with Everett at 14 weeks never stopped and only grew stronger and stronger. The same is happening again. I felt the little flutters for a few days, but kept telling myself that is was most likely gas. But as the days passed, the feeling felt stronger. And now there is definitely no mistaking it for gas. It feels like tiny kicks; and when I push down on my stomach, it is really strong! I feel it most often on my left side which is right where the doctor found the heartbeat. It's the most amazing feeling that you never forget.
With the second trimester comes the gender scan! Yippy! Of course, I cannot wait. Our gender scan is scheduled on December 11th at exactly 14 weeks. But don't get too excited. We won't be sharing the news until after my 20 week NT scan. We're no fools so we know that although the risk of a mistake is low, it is still higher at fourteen weeks. We'd rather see the goods again before we spread the word!
I have finally POPPED! Well, not me... my belly, silly! It has actually taken longer for me to show this pregnancy than it had for the first two. I assume it is because I am in better shape this time around because I have certainly been eating just as much if not more! I started this pregnancy at the same weight as I did with Beckham, but I wasn't excersising or working out back then so I have more muscle on my body this time. My starting weight was 115lbs and when I went to my appointment last week, I had dropped down to 113lbs. My doctor was really concerned because I am entering the second trimester with no weight gain and a little bit of a loss, but I assured him that I am eating like a cow. Not only do I eat about six times a day, but I had even added cookies and cakes to my diet which has already gone downhill since I became pregnant. With the morning sickness, extreme hunger and cravings, my diet has been limited to tons of carbs and sugar. Carbs are what keeps me from puking and sugar is what I crave! Which by the way, the only thing I craved during my first two pregnancies was coke... the soda, people... not the powder! The first thing I began craving this pregnancy was orange juice and I still do, but I also crave donuts and candy a lot too. Anyway, back where I started... my bump is finally showing and all of a sudden too! I took my 11 week belly pic and there was no change, maybe even less of a bump because the bloating had kind of gone down, but then towards the end of last week, BOOM! Bump. There it was. I took a pic at 12 weeks to show my mom and I wasn't planning on posting it, but since I have it, I might as well.
Some symptoms that have still been giving me a hard time are: the morning/evening sickness, of course. It is much worse for me in the evening and at night. Dizziness, every time I stand up, my vision begins to black out and I feel as though I am about to faint...never had this symptom with previous pregnancies. Round ligament pain, I've been having this since I was only 4 weeks along. Like most pregnant women, it is excrutiating when I sneeze, cough or get up to fast. This was really rare for me during my first two pregnancies. Headaches are still a problem too but seem to have gotten better. Acne, it's terrible. I think I mentioned this in my last blog, but it was bad with Beckham, then I had totally clear skin with Everett and now it's bad again. I think that covers it.
The Marine Corps Ball was on November 18th this year, and it was my third ball pregnant... I've only been to four!
I'll end this entry with some pics of my babies. Love them!
