Goodbye, Binkies & Crib Rails! Hello, 2012!

I am so behind so this will be a long post with probably more pictures than I've ever posted in one entry before.  With that said, Hello 2012!  I know, we're already in the middle of February, but it's hard for me to keep up these days.  Let's just get started, shall we?

Christmas was wonderful, as usual.  Joshua's parents were in town and we spent Christmas Eve with them at Tasha's house and then they all spent Christmas day with us at our house.  Christmas day was the day we found out we were having a baby girl which changed our world forever.  It is making this pregnancy drag on a little longer just *knowing* we are awaiting the arrival of our first daughter.  The boys had soooooo many gifts to open on Christmas and I probably should have let them begin opening the night before.  So many friends and family mailed them gifts, and they definitely felt the love.  Everett had a hard time keeping up, and Beckham just wanted to keep unwrapping and unwrapping so we let him take over some of Evie's gifts too.

The boys got spacewalk from Nanny Gayle for Christmas and the boys seriously had a blast in this thing.

The boys stayed with their Nonna at Tasha's house for New Year's Eve so Joshua and I had a couple nights alone which was super nice and much needed.  The boys had a blast playing with Isaac and listening to Tasha play the flute for them.  And of course, they got to be with Nonna!

Shortly after the new year, one of my very best friends, Ariana (Beckham's girlfriend...hehe) came to stay with us.  The boys had so much fun with her, and we were so happy to have her visit.

The day that Ariana left was also the day that Joshua left for a five day business trip to Cleveland.  I took this opportunity to get Everett off of the binky.  I knew there would be late nights with tons of screaming and I didn't want Joshua to have to experience that with his super early mornings.  It was a perfect amount of time to get the hard work done without him having it interfere with his work days.  Day 1, I took the boys to the lake by our house and had Everett throw the binky into the water just as we had done with Beckham at the canal in New Orleans.  Evie did not want to let go so I shook his arm until it flew out.  He reached out for it and whined a bit, but I sang our "Bye Bye Binky" song and explained that he is a big boy now.  That day, he whined here and there but there were no fits.  Bed time was a different story.  He was up the entire night screaming and climbing out of his bed (he still had the crib rails up at this time).  I had to stand on the outside of his door for hours, putting him back in bed each time he climbed out which was immediately after I would place him back in.  Once he would fall asleep, he would wake up an hour or two later and it would all begin again.  I repeatedly told him that he was a big boy now and that his binky was in the water with the baby ducks.  He would cry and repeat me, but on the first night it was hard for him.  Day 2, he did well.  He would ask for the binky occasionally and I would tell him the same stuff, and it was only when he was tired that he would cry over it.  He normally took two 2-3 hour naps a day, but this day he fell asleep for about 30 minutes and that was his only nap.  Because of his lack of sleep the night before and his short nap during the day, he went right to bed that night with no problem.  No cries, no sound, nothing.  He was exhausted.  Night 3 was the worst.  He had his energy back and he was fed up.  I had never seen he throw such awful fits before.  He was banging his head on his crib repeatedly, and climbing to the top and purposefully throwing himself off the rail onto his back on the floor.  He was angry!  It was another long night.  By the time Joshua came home, he was doing so well.  He would still whine here and there for his binky, but he was also excited to be a big boy now.  When I would put him in his bed, he would ask for binky and I would give him the same story as always, and he would say "No binky!  I'm a big boy now!  Yaaayy!".  Obviously, we had to get rid of the crib rail once and for all, and after about a week of us having to stand outside his door and repeatedly put him back in bed, he adjusted.  He now walks straight to his bed, climbs in all by himself, kisses his panda pillow pet that he got from his Kay Kay for Christmas and lays down before saying, "Goodniiiiiiiiiiiight."  So, his last day having the binky was January 9th and since then, he has been down to one nap a day which lasts only about 1-2 hours.  He also wakes up about 30 minutes to an hour earlier in the mornings.  But.... he is a big boy now.  :)

EVERETT is so excited to be a big boy now.  Whenever Beckham says he has to potty, Everett runs to the bathroom first and exclaims, "I'm a big boy now!".  But whenever I put him on the potty, he never goes and wants to get off after a few seconds.  He is also excited to be eating breakfast at the breakfast bar in our kitchen now which was something he has always seen Beckham do.  Now as he watches me put two bar stools in front of the bar instead of one (we still have to keep them on top of our kitchen table because Everett likes to climb on the bar), he gets happy and starts yelling "I'm a big boy now!".

Everett knows so much more than he had been letting on.  Now that he talks so much more, we are finding out what's been going on in that little mind of his, and boy has it been at work!  One morning, we had Super Why on the television and as they started singing the alphabet, Everett suddenly began singing it with them!  I had no idea he knew that!  Whenever I ask him to sing me a song, the alphabet is always the first one he sings now.  He also comes up to me with legos and cars all of the time and tells me what color they are.  All that time I spent trying to teach him with him just smiling back, he was actually listening.  And he has also been learning so much from Beckham which is quite funny.  Beckham has a blue block that he pretends is an ice cube and Everett now calls it "ice" too.  Beckham also has some little pieces for his kitchen that he calls "hashbrowns", and now Everett cries to play with "hashbrowns" when he sees his brother with them.  And this just blew Joshua and I away yesterday....  we were at a clothing store and Joshua pointed to a dress that had a picture of the Eiffel Tower on it and told Beckham, "Look!  What is that?!".  Wouldn't you know, Everett answered before him, "Eiffel Tower".

Evie is a smart little booger, but he's still a boogerbutt.  He's going through this phase where he wants to hit me whenever he gets upset about something.  And I'm the only victim of this!  If he drops something, something gets stuck or Beckham upsets him, he runs to me and starts hitting me.  When he does this, I grab his arm and force him to sit down which makes him cry and even more upset.  In the beginning, he would get back up and hit again, and I would do the same thing, over and over.  Now he usually doesn't hit again after I sit him down the first time, and he has actually been hitting me much less.

Everett loooooooves taking baths.  As soon as he wakes up in the mornings, he begins begging me, "I want take a bath....".  Even after he has a bath, an hour later he is begging me again!  But while he is in the bath, God forbid I actually try to bath him.  The whole time I'm washing him is a fight.  And even if I let him stay in there for an hour, he still has to throw a fit and fight me when I take him out.

Everett not only begs to take a bath, but he is always begging to watch Horton Hears A Who.  It's the only thing he wants to watch, and he asks me all throughout the day.

BECKHAM is loving that Everett is getting big like him.  He calls Evie "Best Bud" all the time... "Mommy, where's my best bud?" he asks when Everett is sleeping.  And if I have to take something from Everett, Beckham will tell me, "Mommy, please don't take things from my best bud!".  He loves his little brother so much and he is constantly trying to hug and kiss on him.  But although Beckham is extremely affectionate, his brother is not.  This usually aggravates Everett which leads to Beckham getting hit or pushed away.  But I remind Beckham that Evie will come and hug and kiss him when he least expects it, and sure enough, Everett does.

Beckham is in a new phase of his own too.  It's that phase where toddlers choose to do the exact opposite of what you ask them to do.  I really don't care for this phase.

Beckham also thinks it's funny to purposely say the wrong words.  For example, he will replace words in a song or nursery rhyme and then laugh like he said something hilarious.  His favorite thing to replace words with right now is "poo poo" which I have to constantly tell him is inappropriate.  And of course, that makes him want to say it even more.... just like "boobs".  He keeps saying it because he knows I don't like it.  Out of the blue, he will look at my chest and make a confused expression then say, "What's that?  Boobs?  Boobs?"  He finds all kinds of reasons to say the word "boob".  And wouldn't you know that Horton Hears A Who says the word "boob" like 50 times during the movie!  And yep, every time Beckham asks me, "Mom, what's a boob?".  "It's a booby bird." I tell him.

So here it is... everyone's favorite part of the blog... Funny stuff that Beckham says:

*The batteries in Beckham's drill died and he brought it to me and said "This drill needs to go to heaven with Matt and Taylor!"

*Beckham was laying on the sofa and Everett kept walking up and hitting him on the face with a toy spoon so Beckham was telling him, "Stop scooping me!".

*Beckham was punished upstairs one afternoon and yelled down to me, "Why you trying to control me?".

*Beckham was telling Joshua, "I wanna go to the Commissary."  And when Joshua asked him, "What is the Commissary?", Beckham answered "Um well it looks like Texas but it's not really."

*Becham was in Time Out one day and said, "I wanna get out!  Mommy, the one in Time Out is talking to you!"

*I sat down with Beckham while he was in Time Out to have a talk with him and he told me, "Well, do you see this sad boy?  You need to let him out of here.  That's the deal.  I'm not going to be a naughty boy,  No way, Jose."

*I had my June Bug's Pack N Play set up in the living room so that I could show it to Joshua when he got home, and while I was in the kitchen I heard Beckham telling Everett, "This is where you change the baby's diapies and this is where the baby sleeps and gets hugs."

*Beckham and I made a bunch of colored cupcakes but he only wanted to eat pink ones.  He explained, "I only want pink because pink is still my favorite color."

*Our living room light burned out one day and Beckham asked the next morning, "Are we going to get a new light bulb for the ball that's hanging on a pick and looks like a boob?"  And when I said, "Beckham, it's called a breast.  You think it looks like a breast?", he said "No Mom, the ball hanging from a pick looks like a boob."

*Beckham saw a baby on tv right after it was born and as he was telling Joshua about how the baby was all dirty, he said "I'm gonna call the baby Dirty.  Yep, I'm going to call the baby Dirty Adeline."

*I told Beckham that he better not be getting a chair to stand on and he replied, "Stop telling me what to do!".

*I was telling Beckham in the car, "Beckham, soon you will be 3 and when you turn 3, brother will turn 2!  And then Marigny will be born!"  Then he replied, "Yep, and she will be 16.... I can't wait to have a little sister."

*Becks says he wants Marigny to sleep in his bed with him because he wants to share with her.  He says this all the time.

Here's a few things that Everett says:

*Everett says "Come on, Man!" when we stop short at red lights, when Beckham picks on him or when I put him in Time Out.

*Everett says "Mommy" after everything even if he's not talking to me.  For example, if someone else hands him something, he will say "Thank you, Mommy."

*Everett is always asking me, "What happened, Mommy?".

*Everett tries to feed his trucks.  He asks them "Wanna take a bite?".

*When you ask Everett where Marigny is, he kisses my belly.

*When Everett can't find Beckham, he walks around saying, "Beckham, where are yooooou?".

*Everett sits in his bed and talks to himself a lot whether it's before or after a nap.  The other day I was listening outside his door and he was saying, "What's that sound?  A puppy?  Roof roof!  What's that sound?  A dinosaur?  A dinosaur?  Roar!".

Here are some zoo pics!

Here are some pics of the boys playing together :)

Baby Breaux #3:

My very last post was our announcement that we are expecting a baby girl!  I can't believe it's been almost two months since we found out.  Since then, we have had two more ultrasounds and both times a baby GIRL was verified.  The day after we found out the gender, Joshua and I began shopping for her!  We haven't bought much but the very first outfit we bought her was a pink tutu with a onesie that says "I'm ready for my close up".

We had our big ultrasound done at 19.5 weeks which was when they checked the baby's health.  Everything came back good and she is looking very healthy.

I got to see her for the fourth time last Friday at 23 weeks when I met with my new doctor for the first time (I ended up switching doctors for a number of reasons).  During the ultrasound, Marigny was playing with her feet and it was soooooo cute!!  My doctor had a difficult time getting a good profile pic of her because she was face down, but she was able to get a decent shot.  It is a profile pic of her facing down.

So here's some things that have been going on with me this pregnancy:

I have hives again.  They are not bad, but they have returned.  For those of you who are unaware, I am allergic to 30 foods and 50 inhalants which used to cause me to break out in hives daily that were so large that they would wrap around my body or cover my entire back.  After getting shots three times a week for about 6-8 months, the hives became much less frequent and much smaller.  When I got pregnant with Everett, they completely went away and I have not had any until about a month ago when they returned.  They are nothing compared to what I used to experience, but you know, hives still burn and itch.  They are mostly on the palms of my hands which is the second most painful place to get them (the bottom of the feet is the worst).  It's not too often though.

I am still having slight nausea in the morning, and in the afternoon too if I let myself get hungry.   It's so strange for me because my nausea always stopped before the second trimester with my boys.

My headaches have gotten so much better.  They are rare now and are usually only at night.  :)

Bed time is the worst part of my day.  I actually dread going to bed.  It's the most painful for me.  Because I can only sleep on my sides, my hips, shoulders and back hurt pretty bad.  And in addition to this, I have been having terrible round ligament pain "down there" for the last month, and each week it gets worse.  Sometimes I can barely walk, and laying on my side is excruciating.  So goodbye sleep.  I feel it all of the time so there is never a moment when I don't, but any movement intensifies it.  This is most definitely the worse part of this pregnancy.  I did experience it at the very end when I was pregnant with Everett but it was pretty much only at night because I had to lay on my sides.  It wasn't a constant pain back then.

About four weeks ago, I began having painful contractions on a daily basis but mostly in the evening.  The contractions felt like they do in the end of a pregnancy, not the usual Braxton Hicks contractions which are not painful.  They have eased up though and this week was much better.  My doctor seemed a little concerned and advised that I drink more water and try to hold my children less.

As for my weight gain, at my 19 week appt I was 117lbs so I gained 3lbs which finally put me over my starting weight (115lbs) and left me at a total weight gain of 2lbs so far for this pregnancy.  At my 23 week appt, I gained 5lbs which put me at 122lbs for a total weight gain of 7lbs.  It's amazing how much smaller I am now than I was with the boys.  Check out this old belly pic of me 13 weeks pregnant with Everett and compare it to my new belly pics!

Well I hope you guys enjoyed all of the pictures and stories that we had to share in 2011.  Every year seems to get better so we are so excited for 2012.  There will be lots of changes this year, and we are so ready for them!  We hope that you stick around and continue reading!  xoxo!
