This has been an interesting week for me. With Mother's Day, my 30th (yes 30!) birthday and a trip to Labor and Delivery, I guess this post will be mostly about me.
I'll begin where I left off with my dr appts. When I last wrote, I just had an appt on April 26th. Well, my next appt was two weeks later on May 10th. Marigny's heart rate was 150 and everything was going well. I gained 3 lbs over those two weeks for a total weight gain of 21 lbs.
Mother's Day was a few days later on May 13th , and we celebrated with Joshua's mother, sister and her family. It was another gorgeous day here in CA, and it was even warm enough for us to swim (well, thanks to the heated pool!). This was my fourth Mother's Day, and every year feels just as special as the first. I feel so lucky to have two beautiful, healthy boys and another blessing on the way. I just adore my little boogerbutts!
My birthday was later that week on May 17th. And yes, as I already mentioned, I am now 30! This is very exciting for me because I've been looking forward to 30 since I turned 21. I have no doubt that the thirties will be even more grand than the twenties were. I can't wait to see where life takes me! I was really hoping to begin my thirties with my baby girl in my arms, but she had other plans. I had my 37 week dr appt on that day and was 1cm dilated and 25% effaced. My belly only measured 33cm which was about 4cm small so my dr did another ultrasound to make sure baby girl was growing properly. Thankfully, she was! She looked perfect, and the dr commented once again that she has long legs. She weighed 5lbs 14oz which is just one ounce less than Everett's birth weight. I'm not sure how accurate weight is during an ultrasound though. At this appt, Marigny's heart rate was 120bpm, and I weighed in again at 136lbs, so still a total gain of 21 lbs.
Now time for my hospital story! On Saturday, May 19th, I began having contractions at 11pm. They were immediately five minutes apart, but weren't extremely painful. I noticed that whenever I got up to use the bathroom they would stop so I kept putting off going to the hospital. Finally, at about 6:30am, after seven and a half hours of contractions five minutes apart, I decided to just go in and make sure that the baby wasn't distressed. And I also don't want to wait until it's too late to get an epidural! Ugh, I couldn't imagine. Anyway, we got there at 7am and was still only 1cm dilated. They monitored the baby's heartbeat and my contractions for three hours. The contractions were 2-5 minutes apart, but there was still no change to my cervix and the baby was doing great so they sent me home. I was told to come back if the contractions stayed between 2-5 minutes but were so painful that I couldn't talk through them. Well, obviously that didn't happen. The contractions gradually faded off throughout the day; and surprisingly, I didn't have any at all last night. I only had a couple today so I'm pretty sure baby will be baking for a little longer.
A little update on my boys! They had their 2 and 3 year well checks on May 14th. Beckham weighed 28lbs (still! Seems like he's been 28lbs forever) which is in the 15th percentile and his height was in the 85th percentile. Everett on the other hand, "fell off the curve" for weight. He weighs 23lbs and needs to gain more. We are working on that, but they are both very finicky eaters.
Here are some pics of Evie from when Becks was still in NOLA, and a few of Nonna and the boys since she and Becks have been back.
