We are going into the second week of July tomorrow which means my baby girl is over one month old! Just like my boys, she is growing so fast, and I'm so happy I have this blog to help me remember all the little things.
This has really been a great summer so far. Joshua has been off of work for the last three weeks and my sister, Myshie has been here for the last month. I have been waking up at night with the baby and Joshua has been getting up early with the boys, and every once in a while we switch. Monday will be rough though because it will be the first time I have to do both! I've already been living off of three cups of coffee so I'm really not sure how I'm going to make it. lol
I want to back up and mention some important milestones for my boys. First in April, we finally got Beckham sleeping in his own bed through the night. For the last couple of years, he was waking up in the middle of the night and coming in the bed with me and Joshua. We weren't quite sure how we were going to break this habit but having Donna here was the perfect opportunity. Beckham has a bunk bed in his room and he sleeps on top so Donna slept on the bottom the first month she was here. Whenever Beckham would wake up, she would "shush" him back to sleep. I am so happy to announce that my big boy now sleeps in his own bed throughout the night.
Well this next one isn't really a milestone, but it is some good news! We finally moved Everett into Beckham's room! It was something I had been putting off because the boys always woke up at different times and I didn't want them waking each other up. And yes, they do wake each other up now. Anyhoo, we made the move in May when Donna and Beckham returned from New Orleans. It went surprisingly well! They goofed off the first couple of days but it was never a big problem. They are really such good boys for naps and bedtime... they go right down. I always wanted my boys to share a room, and now that we have a new baby it was especially important so Marigny could have her own room. We now qualify for a four bedroom house in base housing, but since I wanted the boys to share anyway, it's not worth the trouble of moving.
I have some sad news to share about Beckham. A little over a month ago, my lil guy knocked his front tooth on Everett's head, and since then it has been extrememly loose. He is able to wobble it with his tongue, and it keeps hurting him and bleeding when he eats. We were hoping for it to tighten back up, but he has knocked it on things so many times since the first that we know it will definitely be coming out soon, if not on its own then certainly by the dentist. My next blog entry will most likely consist of a picture of his new smile.
I haven't been recording all of the funny things Beckham has been saying, but one is so funny that I do remember.... last week Joshua was driving while drinking a Monster energy drink and Beckham yelled from the back of the van, "Daddy! You're not supposed to drink and drive! Remember what it says on my credit card (his fake driver's license)! Don't drink and drive!".
We brought the kiddos to their first baseball game a couple of weeks ago. It was the Padres vs. Mariners. The boys loved it, and since then, Everett will not stop chanting for the Padres.
Last weekend, we met up with the Toros (Joshua's sister) at one of our favorite meeting places, La Jolla Cove. It's such a great place to lounge around on a blanket while the boys run around.
We've also been going to the pool. Did I mention I LOVE Summer?!
Did I also mention that my boys LOVE their baby sister?!
Marigny is five weeks old and she has been blowing me away since she was three weeks. I placed her on her playmat oneday just for her to look at the hanging toys, and she actually began swinging at the toys! I couldn't believe it! My boys weren't able to do that until they were at least three months old. Check out this video of her at four weeks playing on her playmat...
Marigny may be great with her arms but she is not so great with her smile. It is so friggin hard for me to get her to smile! I seriously have to work my butt off just to get the smallest little smirk out of her. She does, however, smile at the toys hanging from her playmat and she even "coos" at them! The little stinker.
Marigny also loves her baby dolls. She loves staring at them and chewing on them.
Here's a picture of Marigny's birth announcement!
Ok so we did something kind of crazy.... in case you haven't noticed, Marigny has the worst hair ever! We were advised to shave it all off so that it can grow back even and thicker. I'm pretty sure that's an old wives' tale, but what the heck, at least she would look better, right?? Well, we did it! Two days ago, Joshua took the clippers to her head and shaved that mess off. She's still so cute, especially with that big, bald head. hehe ...Before and After:
I am photographing bows for a couple of etsy shops so Marigny will be modeling them. Here are a few pictures I recently took when she was 26 days old:
